Today’s miles: 130.7
Total miles: 3,175.73

I’ve heard some horror stories about this stretch of the ride.

130 miles with only one place to get food/water 80 miles in.

I’ve heard of people running out of water. Hallucinating. Etc. etc.

You gotta carry your food and water for the day. I brought 2.5 gallons and a bunch of food. So around 20 extra pounds I had to carry up the climbs….

I started at 5 and rode the first 80 without too much difficulty. Got to Hite recreation park for food and met another rider who is going east.

I’m thinking, “all those people I met were just trying to psyche me out.”

I left at 2 with 50 miles left and the sun right in my face. Hardly remember the last 30 miles, but I was going nuts. A big part that contributed was that guy was the only person I spoke to in 14 hours of riding.

I don’t want to experience that again.

14 hours… 12 in the sun. That’s enough for me.

At least I made it and had the best sleep of my life.
